PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No 8

10 October 2007

Dear Friends,

The indoor speeches (QEII) part of the rally events of 27 October have been removed from the programme.

This is due to the postal strikes and the number of people wanting to attend QEII. These two issues have combined to make it impossible to organise the access, ensure security and issue tickets.  Following discussions with various authorities we have therefore decided to concentrate on the outdoor elements of the day, including a number of outdoor speakers.  This will enable all who attend to experience the full rally and I am sure will be greatly welcomed.

All those who have purchased tickets will be contacted as soon as possible with refunds, unless they request that their ticket money is retained by PRR as a donation to the costs of the rally.

We will have a superb public rally, leading the nation on this most important issue and we are most grateful for your continued help in defending Britain. The events will commence at 12.15pm and continue with the mock ballot, outside the Houses of Parliament and speeches from politicians and others of great note.

This is the definitive opportunity to show the depth of support for people to be consulted. The opposition to the so-called 'EU Reform Treaty' is remarkable, even the Labour-dominated Parliamentary Scrutiny Committee now say it is just the rejected EU Constitution, with un-defendable red lines.

Details of when and where to join the Rally are available on the home page of this site.

I look forward to seeing you at around 12.15pm on 27 October, opposite old Palace Yard (the House of Lords). The event will end by 3 pm.

Yours sincerely
Dr Bob Spink MP
Chairman, Pro Referendum Rally Steering Group

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No 7

26 September 2007

Dear Pro Referendum Rally Supporter:

Tickets for the London event at Westminster on October 27th are now on sale! You can buy tickets online through the website using your credit card or PayPal account, or by sending a cheque made payable to the "Pro Referendum Rally" to the following address:

Pro Referendum Rally, 78 Carlton Road, Worsop, Notts, S80 1PH

Please include a stamped addressed envelope if you would like the tickets to be returned by post. Otherwise we will email your tickets to you, so please provide your name and email together with your address, phone number just in case we need to contact you.

The Rally
The rally event is going forward as planned: we will muster in the vicinity of Westminster and cast our ballots outside Parliament before those who have booked tickets will proceed to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre for the speaking event. Precise timings will be confirmed soon. Refreshments within the Conference Centre will be provided as part of the ticket price.

Speakers will include Dr. Bob Spink - Conservative MP for Castle Point, Nigel Farage - Leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, Christopher Booker - Sunday Telegraph, Roger Helmer MEP - Chairman of the Freedom Association, Neil Herron - Metric Martyr defence fund, Steve Radford - Liberal Party. A special video message by Lord Tebbit of Chingford will also be shown at the rally.

The recomended cost of tickets is £20 per ticket. However, we do recognise that many supporters are on modest incomes so the minimum price of tickets is £10. Because this cost is heavily subsidised, payments in excess of this amount by those that can afford them would be greatly appreciated. Because the price is flexible, please remember to stipulate the number of tickets you require.

Demand for tickets is likely to be high and it is not planned to sell tickets on the day of the event, so book your tickets now!

See you at the rally!

Dr. Bob Spink MP.

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No 6

02 September 2007

****PRO REFERENDUM RALLY DETAILS*******

Dear Referendum Supporter,

The Pro Referendum Rally Steering Group has now agreed upon the details of the rally event of October 27th and the ongoing campaign.

The amazing response we have had from activists means that we are now planning an even more ambitious set of 'rolling thunder' campaigns starting on October 27th, one week after the EU Lisbon summit.

On October 27th, a rally will be held in Parliament Square, with the symbolic casting of votes in ballot boxes outside the Houses of Parliament, followed by a speaking event at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre with top-flight speakers from across the political spectrum, the media and other walks of public life.

Since launching the Pro Referendum Rally campaign, we have also been inundated with requests to organize regional events to be held on the same day, and we therefore now call on activists to organise similar events throughout the United Kingdom. So that it presents a coherent campaign in the eyes of the public and the media, we ask that regional event organizers use the ballot box theme in their own campaigns if possible.

It is also very important to stress that the original intention of holding a mass rally of in London has NOT been abandoned. It is now planned to hold this event in the spring of 2008.

COME AND CAST YOUR BALLOTS

The Westminster rally is provisionally planned to start at 12 noon at Westminster with the symbolic casting of ballots outside the Houses of Parliament. All activists not involved in regional events are invited to attend and cast either individual ballots or ballots on behalf of organisations that they represent. Branded merchandise such as t-shirts, bumper stickers and posters to support the rally will shortly be available from our online shop. We ask that for the benefit of presenting a coherent 'brand' to the media that apart from the branded information on sale through the shop, banners are restricted to those identifying the location or region that you are representing.

THE SPEAKING EVENT

Those attending the speaking event will then move to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre. Tickets will be priced at the heavily subsidized cost of £10. The price includes refreshments in the Conference Centre.

Ticket sales will be managed so that we can make sure the rally is representative of the diversity of British people as a whole. Please register on the web site to express an interest in buying tickets.

THE WIDER CAMPAIGN

As well as regional events, we ask supporters to get active in the following
areas:

  • Lobby your MP, either by writing to them or through the email link provided on the Lobbying page. In particular, those living in Labour-held constituencies should ask their MP to sign the pro referendum Early Day Motions (EDM's) that have already been tabled to Parliament.
  • Demand a Parish Poll. Under the Local Government Act 1972, a parish poll may be demanded by at least 10 electors, or one-third of those present at the meeting voting for the proposal. The returning officer is legally required to conduct the poll and announce its results.
  • Write to your local newspapers.
  • Spread the word. Official merchandise publishing the rally such as t-shirts, posters, bumper stickers and leaflets will shortly be available via our online shop.
  • If you are a local Councillor, table a Pro Referendum resolution at your next council meeting.

DONATIONS

Those people who wish to make donations to the costs of the rally can now do so here on the web site via PayPal. Alternative ways of making donations will follow shortly.

...And FINALLY

It is very important to stress how a good turn-out at all planned events is vital so that we can sustain and build on momentum and morale in the coming months, leading up to a mass rally in the Spring. We will only be able to do this if this initial step gets off to a great start. In this age of spin and media power, we all know that elements in the media will use any excuse they can to brand an event a failure, unrepresentative or the work of extremists. Hence a well-organised, coherent 'branded', professional image is important for all the Pro Referendum events held.

We greatly look forward to working with you over the coming months to achieve our goal in a decisive time for our democracy and the future of our country.

Dr. Bob Spink MP.
Steering Group Chairman
Pro Referendum Rally

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No 5

18th August 2007

Dear Pro Referendum Rally Supporter:

We are gaining momentum by the day as this newsletter will testify!!

However time is short and the task is immense – it is only by working hard together do we stand any chance of regaining our vote on the latest EU Treaty/ Constitution.

The constitutional changes in the Reform Treaty/ Constitution are as profound in relation to our right to rule ourselves as any event in our history. It is an affront to have these fundamental changes to our right to rule ourselves taken from us without our consent.

This is not like voting for the annual budget (which we expect our MPs to do without reference back to us) or for a new local hospital (which we expect our local councilors to do without reference back to us). This EU Treaty/ Constitution is about who will propose and make our laws, its is about whether a new Federal European State (as defined with its own legal persona) can make decisions in our name, in essence it is about who will rule over us.

And this is being done without our consent – the latest EU Treaty/ Constitution is a Federal European power grab of our individual sovereignty of breath taking proportions. Indeed, it is so audacious that for many of our fellow countrymen they simply cannot conceive of it. At its most basic level the Pro Referendum Rally is not about whether the British still wish to rule themselves. In the first instance this is an issue of our fellow countrymen being told the truth of what is happening to their most fundamental and historic rights. Our task is to change a general desire by 85% of our fellow countrymen for a vote on the latest EU Treaty/Constitution into a non-negotiable demand for a vote.

I would like to cover the following topics in this newsletter:

  1. The launch of the new Pro Referendum Rally website
  2. Your steering committee
  3. Local campaigning
  4. The media

THE NEW WEBSITE

We think that the new website is a HUGE improvement.

Send an email to all your relevant contacts encouraging them to visit the website!

The upgrade to the website was made possible by the generous donation of one of our supporters and the website was designed and published by Alissa Robinson against a demanding delivery date. We would appreciate your feedback on the website.

What has been the effect of the upgraded website? Well to start with the number of visitors was running at 30,000 per month on the old website, this has now more than doubled to 80,000 in just 10 days!! Of course this is not all attributable to the new website but also to the excellent work being carried out by the local teams across the UK. In addition the number of organisations willing to link with the new website has accelerated.

In the very near future we will be opening a shop on the website which will facilitate donations, the purchase of t-shirts, window stickers, posters, leaflets etc. The design of these items will be consistent with the look and feel of the website. The surpluses on the sale of these items will be applied to the national advertising campaign (more of this later).

We will be opening discussion forums on the website. For example each local team (e.g. Bournemouth, Northants, Birmingham, Edinburgh, etc) will have their exclusive and private place to efficiently communicate with each other on local activities. There will also be public forums on the general planning of the rally.

YOUR STEERING COMMITTEE

Dr. Bob Spink (MP), the Pro Referendum Rally chairman, has been working tirelessly to garner cross party support in both Houses of Parliament. He has been in touch with major donors, pressure groups, think tanks and other organisations that recognise the need for a referendum to support the rally. We are optimistic that this work will result in the pooling of effort and resources for this overarching cause.

Face to face meetings have been held with the London Metropolitan Police and the Royal Parks Agency who have been most cooperative in fleshing out the detailed items for the action plan.

The next meeting of the Steering Committee is this Tuesday at Westminster. Detailed Rally plans, new Committee appointments to take responsibility for specific actions, fundraising, and the communications strategy are some of the items on the agenda.

LOCAL CAMPAIGNING

Reports continue to come in from the local teams which have formed across the country. Leaflets are being delivered house to house, public meetings are being organized, local rallies planned, stalls set up, buses booked for the rally, local walks promoting the rally undertaken, motions proposed in support of a referendum at local councils, MPs approached, etc.

In particular I would like to highlight the need to reach out to the youth of Britain. Contrary to some views the majority of our youth are largely skeptical of the new EU Treaty/ Constitution. At a local and national level we need to mobilise the youth of Britain to take up the fight for their vote by joining the rally. An example of one youth orientated organisation which is campaigning hard for the rally is http://www.englishyouth.co.uk. If you are in contact with British youth please send them this newsletter and encourage them to sign up for the rally. Will the historic rights that we have enjoyed be passed onto them? You can help make sure that they help themselves to vote on it.

We have a web page showing the position of MPs and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates with regard to a referendum. Please approach your MP and PPCs and find out their position and let us know so that we can update this page on the website.

In similar fashion many supporters have tabled local council motions in favour of a referendum. Please let us know if this has been done at your local council. We would like to update the local council page on the website.

I will be sending out updated lists of local supporters soon as there has been a sizeable increase in registered support since the last local lists were distributed.

THE MEDIA

One key success factor for the Rally is to gain editorial coverage from newspapers, TV and Radio stations. We are currently working hard to achieve this. In addition we are developing a budget for a rolling communications strategy in the major media channels. Once these plans have been agreed we will let you know the scope of these plans and the amount of money we need to raise in order to implement these plans. This money will need to be raised from supporters and major donors.

If you have any contact with local media channels please alert them to the rally and we would be delighted to provide them with press releases and interviews.

With my very best regards,

Dr Jonathan Wilson
(Pro Referendum Rally Coordinator)

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No 4

4th August 2007

Dear Pro Referendum Rally Supporters:

I would like to cover the following topics in this newsletter:

  1. The result of the vote on when to hold the rally and its implications
  2. Changes to the Pro Referendum Rally Steering Committee
  3. Local campaigning

RALLY VOTE

The result of the rally vote was unambiguous. 69.6% of the vote was in favour of Option 1 (a rally date at the end of October 2007) and 30.4% were in favour of Option 2 (a rally date in 2008). 2.8% of the voters were excluded from the total as they were either in favour of two rallies or simply welcomed any opportunity to express their feelings publicly.

I hope that all organisations and individuals, who recognise the historic proportions of the deceit that is being perpetrated on our beloved country and the urgent need for a referendum, will accept the result of this democratic vote and marshal their resources and supporters to maximum effort in the 3 months left to us before the rally.

The Pro Referendum Rally date is now provisionally set for: SATURDAY OCTOBER 27TH 2007

I have contacted the Royal Parks Agency (based on early voting patterns) and they have agreed to reserve Hyde Park as the final destination of the rally on this day. However we will not be able to march up The Mall as they, by policy, do not allow protests, demonstrations or rallies on The Mall or in the St James Park area. Consequently we will need to find alternative marching routes to Hyde Park .

I have been in contact with the London Metropolitan Police (who have been very cooperative) and we are currently discussing alternative marching routes to Hyde Park . We are examining routes that would take in the Houses of Parliament.

We could, of course, simply set a time for the start of the rally in Hyde Park and let everyone make their own way there, but this would significantly lessen the impact of the rally. The rally must include a march for those who can physically make it.

I will let you know the detailed marching routes, start times etc as soon as they are agreed with the London Metropolitan Police, Westminster Council etc. I will then contact supporters who have volunteered to be Rally Marshals with further instructions.

There is much to be done in a short space of time - but with traditional British resolve WE WILL SUCCEED IN REGAINING OUR REFERENDUM VOTE!!

We will be working particularly hard on those national newspapers sympathetic to a referendum vote, to ramp up their coverage of the Rally now that we have a date.

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY STEERING COMMITTEE

Dr Bob Spink (MP) (Cons) chairs a cross party parliamentary group dedicated to securing a referendum on the latest EU Treaty/Constitution. Bob has kindly agreed to chair the Pro Referendum Rally Steering Group. I am sure we all congratulate Bob for stepping forward at this key moment and in particular to continue to build support in both Houses of Parliament for the Rally on a cross party basis.

LOCAL CAMPAIGNING

Local Volunteer Teams - It gives me great pleasure to say that we now have Pro Referendum Rally teams formed in 56 postal regions across the UK. However we need more supporters to register and volunteer for local campaigning. If you know of people or organisations sympathetic to regaining their referendum vote please get them to sign up now on http://www.proreferendumrally.co.uk/.

The numbers of local volunteers in each postal region will also improve as soon as we get exposure in national newspapers.

Local Council Resolutions - Cllrs. Tony Woodcock of Poole and Paul Greenall of Derby have been proactive at a local council level, by tabling motions in favour of a referendum. Please contact your local councillors and encourage them to table similar motions. Both Tony and Paul would be please to help you with the wording of such motions. Their contact details are on the Pro Referendum Rally website. http://www.proreferendumrally.co.uk/. Please let me have the names of local councils where such motions have been tabled. I have created a web page listing these councils. Action here is urgent, given the time it takes for the motion to be tabled.

Bumper stickers - Terry Stokes has kindly arranged for the production of car bumper stickers.

For further details and how to order them please contact Terry directly on Terrymstokes@aol.com. The proposed design is as follows:

Proposal: The following would fit the letter and sticker size criteria

EU treaty - I want a vote so...

(this line = 30 letters/spaces @3/8" - 1/2" tall)

RALLY ROUND!

(this line = 13 letters/spaces @ 3/4" - 1" tall)

(this line = 28 letters/spaces @ 3/8" tall)

Local walks - Phil of London writes,

Did I mention the excellent response when I walked from Didcot to Newbury on the A34 in my BRING ON A REFERENDUM T-shirt? Lots of beeping as cars went by at great speed. I was walking south, so on the west side of the A road, facing northbound traffic. The T-shirt had lettering on both front and back, so there was some beeping from the other side (southbound) also. I walked about 15 miles and it took about 5 hours. I usually go for country walks on the weekends, but the Referendum is so important that I thought the road walk would be better.

This showed me that the public is very strongly behind the issue. I kept thinking as I was walking how people in their cars/buses would have started talking to each other about the issue.

The person sitting next to someone might not have even heard of the issue, but get the person next to them talking about it and the public awareness just grows and grows!!

I was wondering if we couldn't somehow form a group of people for walking A roads or busy B roads wearing clothing that put the point across. I estimate that about 30,000 cars/trucks/buses passed me on Saturday, so it's a great way to get the word out and public awareness up!!

If I knew that someone genuinely would wear a T-shirt and walk a main road with it, I would pay for the T-shirt. That's how strongly I feel about this matter. The people have to be given a say on

their future!!!!

Phil

P.S. I have a new T-shirt on order with the words:

GIVE US A REFERENDUM ON THE E.U. CONSTITUTION

Local Meetings - Graham of Cumbria writes:

Hello Dr Wilson,
There is to be a meeting in Kendal on Thursday 20th September at 7.30 p.m. in the Town Hall.

The org running the meeting is a group called Forward in Europe . It is intended to have two speakers for and two against the EU with a vote taken at the end of the debate. As long as this does not clash with any plans, you might have some contacts up here who might (should) attend.

I have contacted as many as possible that I know in the area but are you able to filter from your list those who live fairly close to the event e.g. North Lancs. and Cumbria. I happen to know of the man running the event. If you are too busy then not to worry we will raise both hands!!

Kindest regards
Geoff Graham (Greystoke Cumbria ) (gwgraham@supanet.com)

Local Flyers - Elizabeth Curzon-Howe writes:

Dear Jonathan,

Just a brief note:

In reference to the Excel schedule you forwarded with the names of the Exeter contacts, are you able to forward another version with the headings under which everyone was listed, because without the headings I am not sure what all the figures mean?

Although I am yet to meet my fellow Exeter campaigners, an E-mail to them all will follow this one to you, I am working on some headline Flyers, which can be put up in Post Offices and local shops etc. They will vary in size because that is what will be required at the different outlets.

Once I have created a couple may I send them to you for your comments?

Your views will be much appreciated and please be as critical as you like.

Best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth Curzon-Howe (Mrs.)

UKIP Tiverton Branch

Eds. Note: With regard to the last few enigmatic columns on the Excel spreadsheet the following applies:

The columns with "1" or "0" reflect the choices of supporters with regard to local volunteering, rally day volunteering and speaker volunteering. "1" = "yes" and "0" = "no" The last column of figures is the supporter's unique registration number.

If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Pro Referendum Rally Blog - (as suggested by Jennifer Kirkby of Leeds - http://www.mycustomer.com/)

Rather than develop a blog from scratch, Dr Richard North has agreed for us to use his excellent Pro Referendum website. He has opened a forum called "Pro Referendum Rally" where you are welcome to publish your views. Go to http://www.eureferendum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17

Party Conventions - Next month is party convention time. It would be excellent if volunteers would hand out flyers at these conventions advertising the Pro Referendum Rally and recruiting supporters.

I will be back soon with further updates.

Take care

With best regards

Jonathan

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No 3

28th July 2007

Dear Supporters:

I would like to cover the following topics in this newsletter:

  1. RALLY DATE
  2. LOCAL CAMPAIGNING
  3. MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

RALLY DATE

This is YOUR Pro Referendum Rally and we would appreciate your vote on when to hold the Rally. I have laid out 2 logical alternatives below. Please vote by returning this email with either OPTION 1 or OPTION 2 in the subject heading of the email.

The Portuguese presidency has confirmed that the final draft of the Treaty/Constitution will be completed on 19th October. The signing of this document will be at the December Summit. This means that there are 2 logical dates for the rally; the first is the end of October, the second in the New Year.

OPTION 1

If the first logical opportunity is chosen, then October 27th/28th or November 3rd/4th present themselves as obvious choices. I have contacted the London Metropolitan Police to seek their confirmation on the appropriateness of these dates from their perspective. The advantages of this earlier date are that the terms of the Treaty/Constitution will be fixed and the issue will be prominent in the media. In addition the weather (perhaps!) may be better than a date in the New Year. The disadvantage is that Mr. Brown would not yet have signed this document as this will take place in December. He may therefore simply use the pressure the Rally puts on him to gain some last minute "fig leaf" concession which would be trumpeted as yet another major defence of British interests.

OPTION 2

The second logical date for the Rally is in the New Year. The advantage of this date would be that Mr. Brown would have irrevocably committed himself to the Treaty/Constitution. There would be no more wriggle room. No more possibility of diverting the pressure that the Rally puts on him onto our Continental neighbours. He would then be faced with the "up close and personal" task of getting the Treaty/Constitution Bill through the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Pro Referendum media will be at their most vocal. In addition the later date gives more time to muster local support across the UK . The disadvantages are that the weather may be worse (?) in the New Year, and that most of the extra local campaigning time is "dead" time anyway with the Christmas and New Year periods. Mr. Brown may be able to rush this Bill through both Houses quicker than we anticipate, leaving no suitable date for the Rally before it passes into British law.  In addition not having a date yet available in the New Year makes it more difficult to focus and coordinate activities.

There are, no doubt, additional arguments for and against each of these dates. However YOU have stepped up to the mark, YOU are in the vanguard of this operation showing the way. Therefore which option do you think has the best prospect of achieving the biggest most politically effective Rally ever witnessed in the UK ? Please consider this question carefully and let me have your votes by Friday 3rd August. I will let you have the result of the vote on Saturday 4th August.

LOCAL CAMPAIGNING

I have set up a local campaigning page on the Pro Referendum Rally website.

This page is witness to the diversity of activities that are taking place at a local level in support of the Rally. If you would like your activities recorded as an inspiration to others, please do not hesitate to email me details.

In addition I have added a page for local campaigning materials. These include a pro forma local leaflet and a suggested bumper sticker. There is no centralised production of these items. It would be great if someone would volunteer for this role.

I will be emailing out volunteer lists this weekend grouped by postal code. Please contact those on your list to arrange your particular local programme of activities and coordination of Rally Day logistics.

MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

I have set up a page with the names of Members of Parliament and with provision for Prospective Parliamentary Candidates. The idea of this page is to record their position for or against the referendum. Getting answers is, however, not easy. I would much appreciate it if you could contact your local MP plus local Prospective Parliamentary Candidates and ask them to confirm to you whether they are for or against a referendum on the latest Constitution/Treaty. Then let me have their response. In this way we can increase traffic to the Pro Referendum Rally website.

I look forward to receiving your votes and otherwise hearing from you.

With kind regards

Yours sincerely

Dr Jonathan Wilson

PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER NO2

19th July 2007

Dear Rally Supporters:

We have now had over 17,000 visitors to the Pro Referendum Rally website in 14 days!! The number of local volunteers is rapidly growing towards a critical mass.

Please keep encouraging your contacts and through your local campaign leaflets, all who are prepared to step up to the mark at this tipping point in British history, to register on: http://www.proreferendumrally.co.uk/

I would like to cover 3 subjects in this newsletter:

  1. The date for the Pro Referendum Rally in London
  2. Local campaign testimonies
  3. Reprint of Newsletter No1

RALLY DATE

Nick, a very concerned (rightly so) supporter wanted to know when we would have the Rally. Quite understandably many supporters want a specified date on which to target their activities.

I am sure many are asking themselves whether the non specification of a date is a plot to neuter the threat of a massive rally in London. Let me reassure you that this could not be further from the truth. I have duplicated my letter to Nick below which I hope provides a clear explanation of why no date for the rally has yet been finalised.

Dear Nick

I could not agree more with your sentiment to be up and at them every day for this outrage!

However the Rally (which must be the biggest and politically most effective ever witnessed in London ) can only be built on public awareness and anger over the enormity of what is happening.

Is that moment now? I doubt it. Have you been on the streets where you live and asked folks what they know about the Treaty? You may be surprised at the gap between where you are and they are.

So we need to move quickly to do 2 things to change public awareness, without which a rally will do more harm than good.

The first is local campaigning - I will be creating a local campaigning page on the Pro Referendum Rally website with testimonies of what people are doing right now across the country at a local level to raise awareness. If you have examples I would be delighted to receive them. In addition I hope to be in a position to send out the local volunteer list grouped by postal code soon. This should reinforce local activities where this is occurring and provide a catalyst where it is not.

Secondly we must leverage the media "hot spots" such as the Lisbon Summit to raise public awareness. What does this mean? It means letters to local and national newspapers, interviews on radio, TV etc. all raising awareness of the issues and directing peoples rising anger towards action by joining the Rally and volunteering for local campaigning.

Once Mr. Brown has finished all his treaty/constitution signing at a European Level (which he is bound to do regardless) and is now out in the open, heading for Parliament for UK ratification, then the threat to the British people will be at its greatest, and that will be the moment of greatest chance of success for the Rally. Until then we must honour that great British tradition of being disciplined enough to hold our fire until we see the whites of their eyes.

This is why we must wait our moment but be hugely active in rousing the British public to the outrage that is being perpetrated on them.

With kind regards

Jonathan

THE PRO REFERENDUM RALLY NEWSLETTER No1

12th July 2007

Dear Supporter:

You have a critical role to play in restoring your right to a vote on the current European Treaty a watershed moment in British history.

It is one week since the website http://www.proreferendumrally.co.uk/ became operational.

We have had over 6,000 visitors to the site in that time, roughly 1,000 per day and the supporters registration campaign has only just begun!

Our next key milestone is 5,000 registered supporters. To achieve this you can easily help by carrying out the following simple registration activities:

PHASE I GENERATING SUPPORTERS REGISTRATIONS

  1. Send your own persuasive and personalized email to all relevant email addresses that you have access to. You may want to remind the recipient that the Pro Referendum Rally will be their last opportunity to actually do something to regain their right to a votebefore the latest European Treaty becomes law. This Treaty, which many have described as the European Constitution by another name, is the last piece of the legal jigsaw in creating a European Super State with a legal persona, in which British law will be subsumed we will lose the basic right to govern ourselves. The ramifications for the constitutional and democratic freedom of British people could not be more fundamental. This major Constitutional change is happening WITHOUT YOUR VOTE!

We MUST mobilise all British democrats - we have no time to lose.

Whatever your view is on economics, the environment, business, the provision of public services, unions, the defense of the Realm, be sure of one thing - this European Treaty will dramatically erode your democratic right to fight for your beliefs. Time is now critical, the threat is real

GET YOUR CONTACTS TO STEP UP TO THE MARK AND SIGN UP AT

http://www.proreferendumrally.co.uk/

NOW!!

(If you have done this step already then send out a reminder).

  1. Get the message into the newspapers. Go to every newspaper comment section, every newspaper blog, and every newspaper editor and write your own persuasive comments and TELL THE READERS TO STEP UP TO THE MARK AND SIGN UP AT http://www.proreferendumrally.co.uk/
  1. Send me the email addresses of webmasters who would welcome the opportunity to cross link with the Pro Referendum Rally website. It is simple - more links equals more traffic equals more registered supporters.

PHASE II CREATING A PORTFOLIO OF SUPPORTING ORGANISATIONS

  1. Send me contact names and email addresses of any organisation (this is a broad church) that would like to have a linked logo on the Pro Referendum Rally website in recognition of their support for a referendum on the latest European Treaty

  2. I have contacted all the main political parties, unions, business organisations, pressure groups, and think tanks asking them for their direct involvement in the Steering Group. I will let you know how they respond. I will shortly put up a list of the organisations that I have contacted on the website with their response - even if there has been no response.

PHASE III LOCAL CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES

  1. Once we have 5,000 registered supporters I will group, by postal code, those supporters who have volunteered for local campaigning and put them in touch with others in their group. Once you receive your group list waste no time in collectively developing your local campaign for the Pro Referendum Rally.

  2. Develop your own local materials that reflect your democratic perspective on why it is important to support the Pro Referendum Rally. Send me samples of your campaigning materials for inclusion on the website. Get your local community to sign up on the Pro Referendum Rally website.

  3. Organise mass transport to the Rally

PHASE IV RALLY DAY (MINIMUM TARGET 500,000 RALLY SUPPORTERS)

  1. The Rally Day must be held when there is maximum press coverage and public awareness of the signing of the Treaty. This will be after the next Inter Governmental Conference (IGC) early in the New Year. A date for this has not yet been announced. After the IGC you will hear the normal lies about "red lines", and "you must be daft to call this a Constitution" and "British interests have been protected" and "this does not require a referendum" ALL LIES - THIS IS A MASSIVE AND FINAL TRANSFER OF BRITISH LAW MAKING SOVEREIGNTY IT MUST HAVE YOUR VOTE BEFORE IT CAN HAPPEN.

The Rally Day will be after the IGC and before Mr. Brown rushes the Treaty through Parliament which he will undoubtedly try to do. All true British democrats will be waiting for him on the Pro Referendum Rally. Date to be advised

  1. I am in dialogue with the London Metropolitan Police in regard to routes. Routes to be advised.

PHASE V POST RALLY DAY ACTIVITIES

  1. A range of peaceful but robust follow-up activities (all strictly within the law) are being planned to press the Government on all sides, until your vote on this Treaty is restored.

  2. A HUGE party in London to celebrate your victory in regaining your right to vote on this Treaty FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION

  3. Normal British democratic processes will proceed in the run-up to the Treaty Referendum.

Take Care

Yours sincerely

Dr Jonathan Wilson

(Rally Coordinator)
